Candle Care

The Quick Candle Care Guide

  • On the first burn, burn for 3-4 hours or until the entire surface has turned into liquid wax. However, if the wax has not melted to the edge of the vessel on the first burn, do not power-burn your candle for more than 4 hours. Some "wax wall hanging" on first initial burns are normal, a full melt pool will eventually catch up on subsequent burns.
  • Always trim cotton wicks to 7mm prior to each lighting, removing "bloom" from the previous burn. For wood wicks, nip off any burnt wood from previous burns and trim to 5mm prior to each lighting.
  • Place on a flat, stable and heat resistant surface.
  • Keep wax pool clear of wick trimmings, matches, water, debris and foreign objects.
  • Keep away from children, pets, draughts, curtains and flammable materials.
  • Do not move a burning candle.
  • Burn within sight. Never leave unattended.
  • For best results and your safety, burn no less than 1 hour and no more than 4 hours at a time.
  • Discontinue use when 10mm of wax remains. It's time for a new candle and upcycle your glass vessel.
  • Failure to follow instructions may result in fire or injury.

WICK MANAGEMENT

  • Keep cotton wicks trimmed to 7mm prior to each lighting. For wooden wicks, always nip off any burnt wood from previous burns, and trim to 5mm prior to relighting. This will prevent excessive smoking and sooty burns.
  • Occasionally, cotton wicks could curl over at the top. Be sure to trim this curl off (to 7 mm) prior to relighting.
  • If a candle is smoking slightly with large flames, the wicks are most likely too long. Extinguish the candle, and trim as detailed above. Wicks that are too long won't be able to draw wax all the way to the top, and the wicks will start to burn, causing large flames.
  • Low, small flames means the wicks have been trimmed too short. Unfortunately, digging around in the wax won’t help. Extinguish, gently tip out any molten wax, and re-light. Be extra careful to not accidentally scald yourself when tipping out the wax.
  • Properly trimmed wicks create calm, steady flames, which means the candle's burning process is in balance. The wicks are efficiently pulling up the right amount of wax, and the flames create complete combustion.

BURNING CANDLE

  • On the first burn, burn for 3-4 hours or until the entire surface has turned into melted wax to help your candle burn more evenly. However, if the entire surface has not turned into liquid wax on the first burn, do not stress and do not power-burn your candle for more than 4 hours. Some "wax wall hanging" on first initial burns are normal, a full melt pool will eventually catch up on subsequent burns.
  • We have carefully selected the wicks of each of our candles with your safety and health in mind, that is to prevent your candle from burning too hot, and to minimize excessive smoking and soot to be released into the air.
Just make sure that on the second and/or third burn, you burn your candle for 3-4 hours or until the melted wax pool reaches the edges of the glass vessel. This will prevent wax tunnelling and ensure consistent melt on subsequent burns.
  • For best results and your safety, burn for no less than 1 hour and no more than 4 hours at a time.
  • Avoid all secondary heat sources such as heaters, radiators and fireplaces. The extra heat they generate, how ever small, coupled with the heat from the flame, will make your candle unstable, resulting in rapid burn.
  • When burning multiple candles, please ensure to leave a 10cm space between the lit candles.
  • Please remember to never leave burning candles unattended.
  • Keep them out of reach of children and pets.
  • Place them on a stable and heat resistant surface.
  • Avoid moving a burning candle.
  • Keep away from any water source that could get into the wax while burning.
  • Keep away from draughts, curtains and flammable materials.
  • If your glass is cracked, chipped or broken you must discontinue use. Our glass vessels are selected for their design and durability, but care must be taken to avoid damage.
  • Stop burning the candle once the wax is 10mm or less. Burning below this level generates a lot more heat through the glass. It’s best to put the candle out yourself rather than letting it die out.
  • Cracks, uneven top, or wet spots may form due to soy wax's sensitivity to temperature and humidity changes. This is normal and naturally occurring in all-natural soy wax and does not affect the quality and the performance of your candle.

Sculptural Candle Care Guide

  • Before lighting, remove all packaging material and tags and place on a flat, stable, heat resistant dish or candle plate that will collect any wax/tear drip.
  • Trim wick to 7-10mm prior to each lighting to prevent excessive smoking and sooty burns. If the flame of your candle is too large that means the wick needs a trim. Extinguish the candle immediately by dunking the wick inside the wax pool, it is a better option than blowing off the candle as it prevents the wick from producing smoke. Let the wick dry for few minutes and trim the wick, straighten it and relight again. You should trim the wick when there’s mushrooming or carbon gap, you will see little black globules forming on the tip.
  • Do not trim the wick too short as this will create uneven burning.
  • Burn within sight and never leave unattended.
  • Do not move a burning candle.
  • For best results and your safety, burn for no less than 1 hour and no more than 3 hours at a time.
  • Light your candle in a well-ventilated area, away from draughts, curtains, flammable materials, secondary heat sources and any water source that could get into the wax while burning.
  • Always leave at least 5-10 cm space between burning candles.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • When not in use, store your candle in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight and nearby heat sources.
  • Never allow candle to burn to completion.
